Ding Dong the Bells are gonna Chime - 16/09/2009

With the Director - Nicola Snell's- wedding coming up soon, and another member of the team recently having her nuptuals in August, it has been weddings galore at the offices of zero2one PR. In keeping with the bridal theme, we have taken on a number of fantastic wedding-related clients and are carrying out a range of PR campaigns and activities to secure coverage in the bridal press: From promoting Hiden Floral Designs to the Fashion Stylists so that they provide flowers for their bridal shoots (they are also designing the flowers for Nicola's wedding!) To pitching in a beautiful ' fingerprint' wedding band for jewellery designer Dominic Walmsley to the major national and regional bridal magazines. ...and we recently completed a very successful 6 month campaign for Go Wedding Favours. And if you keep your eyes peeled, you might even see Nicola's wedding appearing in a national bridal magazine soon!

Christmas PR - 03/07/2009

Despite the wonderful heatwave, we are now thinking snowy thoughts in the office as we are gearing up for the Christmas Gift Guide PR Push. This means the team is busy picking out the key trends for gifts this year. One of which is, very appropriate given the current climate and daily headlines: "Low-Cost Gifts" especially those with a price point under £10, or "Luxury for Less" ie those items which can be compared to another much more expensive, but similar products. Other Trends for Product PR this Christmas are USB Gifts & Leather Gifts, along with the usual subjects: Eco Gifts, Gifts for specific relatives, Gardening Gifts, Cookery Gifts, etc. On that note,we had better get on with Christmas PR - Ho Ho Ho

To Sample or not to Sample - 11/11/2008

We often get asked by clients whether or not they should send samples of their products to journalists (without being requested by journalists first)

There is no hard and fast rule for this, and it varies per client and with each product.

Here are some factors to consider:

1. Value - if the value of the product is high and / or the client has a small budget we would avoid suggesting to clients to send samples as its ROI is not as high as e.g. a press release.

2. However, if there is a higher budget and / or the value of the product is low, it is a good way to generate additional press coverage and give the press release more impact. It is also a good way to generate stronger relations with the journalists and make sure the brand / product sticks in their minds for longer.

3. In some competitive industries, namely Fashion, samples are important for the smaller brands who are seeking to get large scale press coverage

4. If the product is interactive e.g. a technical gadget, is textured e.g. fabrics or does not convey well in images e.g. wallpaper / tiles, then it is highly recommended to send samples.

Which are the best images for PR? - 04/11/2008

A picture paints a thousand words – ok, it’s a well oiled phrase but one that applies perfectly to the PR industry. In the consumer press in particular, getting good coverage for our clients is hugely dependent on the quality of their images. Yet when it comes to budgets, clients can be, understandably, reluctant (or simply unable) to foot the bill of a shoot which can run into tens of thousands of pounds. So how do we maximize our clients’ coverage with the minimum budget? In a recent survey, it was found that 68% of journalists use cut out shots (ie those on white background) over lifestyle shots (products in-situ) so we recommend all clients have high quality cut out images of all products in their range. Quite simply, the more good quality cut-out images a client has, the more coverage they will receive. If you need recommendations of photographers, please just get in touch.
