The Essential Picnic Guide

All it needs is just a hint of  golden sun to come out to play in Blighty, and the masses head to the great outdoors armed with a delectable selection of the nation’s favourite seasonal treats, an outdoor game or two and a radio sounding out some summer anthems.

There’s something about the thought of a crusty baguette with cheese and a bottle of elderflower cordial that inspires our great love for a summer’s day out, sprawled on a picnic rug and surrounded by friends, family and an idyllic setting.

zero2one Trend Bites – The Power of Nature!

This week, Claire and I presented the zero2one clan with what we predict to be the hottest trends to hit the Interiors world for Autumn/Winter 2012.

Trend experts, Mix magazine listed their four key trends as:

SHANTY – An elegant seaside theme using a water filled colour palette, which reflects the duality of the sea; the sinister and dangerous waves against the fun and quirkiness of the seaside.

Keywords: “Rough luxe”, natural, weatherworn and distressed, aqua, stonewash denim, rope and driftwood

EMBER – A modernised Autumn Winter palette taking inspiration from oil slicks, volcanoes and the ashy aftermath of fire.

Keywords: Rich and warming, charred metallic’s, lacquered coating, Ombre and scorched effects

TENDER – A traditional, vintage trend taking inspiration from Georgian antiques and applying an updated pastel palette including metallic tones to add an element of elegance.

keywords: ‘Prettiness’, antique, ornate, Georgian, crystal cut, mini florals, cameo treasure, powder coated surfaces and a time-worn aesthetic

BLEEP – Due to the advancement in technology, BLEEP reflects a human approach to tech function using a synthetic spectrum of fun and playful primary colours.

Keywords: retro shapes, bright and vibrant, playful, mechanical, acrylic sheet, rubber coatings and personalised electronics

After attending Mix magazine’s lecture on autumn winter colour trends, the biggest surprise from was that water filled colours are part of the main palette for autumn winter.

However we realised that this was due to the underlying theme to all of these trends – Nature.
